She currently represents a wide range of international corporate clients in Intellectual Property matters. She is also a member of the International Trademark Association (INTA) and is associated with sixteen Caribbean Territories for purposes of Trademark and Patent Registration and Copyright Protection.
She specializes in Banking, Commercial and Contract Copyright, Estate and Trust, General Practice, Intellectual Property, Offshore Services, Patents and Trademarks.
In 1994 Carol addressed a conference exploring the issues, options and implications of obtaining a parity for Barbados and the Caribbean Common Market Community (CARICOM) with NAFTA.
She assisted with night workshops entitled "Visual Art and the Law"sponsored by the Barbados chapter of ICOM (International Council Of Museums) and spoke on Copyright Law, Artists' Rights and related matters.
In 1996 she was asked to deliver presentations entitled "Money, the Law and You" at Financial Seminars sponsored by the Centre for Management Development, exploring the pitfalls of property purchase, covenants and conditions affecting property, equity and short term investments, Laws of Succession and Living Wills as well as the legal implications of Trusts.
In 1998 she delivered lectures on Legal Affairs and Estate Planning at Retirement Seminars sponsored by the Barbados Mutual, advising persons on Estate Planning and Preparations of Wills.
Carol has served on the council of the Barbados Bar Association for several years and was a Member of the Disciplinary Committee. She has been a regular columnist with the Barbados Advocate Newspaper, writing articles and responding to queries and comments on general legal issues and legal problems of readers.
Carol was instrumental in advising the Bar Association on all aspects of land registration in Barbados when that system was implemented in 1988 and remains a member of the Land Registration Committee on behalf of all association members to resolve any problems and suggest any further legislation that may be required.
Mrs. Hanschell is a member of the Barbados Bar Association, International Who's Who of Professionals, International Association of Business Leaders and the International Trademark Association.
